Audiophiles know Dan D’Agostino as the world’s most skilled and passionate designer of audio electronics, and the first to champion the use of high-powered solid-state amplifiers in high-end audio. With the Momentum monoblock amplifier, he begins anew with revolutionary concepts, innovative materials and a fresh-slate design. The momentum sounds warmer, more musical, more alive than any other amplifier Dan has designed—and any other amplifier, period.

Momentum Monoblock Amplifier

The Momentum monoblock amplifier is the ultimate expression of legendary audio designer Dan D’Agostino’s passion for music. It delivers an incredible 300 watts into 8 ohms, but thanks to its highly efficient copper heat sinks with cooling venturis, the chassis is just 5 inches high and consumes less than 1 watt of power at idle. Fully complementary, balanced circuit topology using 1% metal-film resistors and 69 MHz output transistors allows ultra-low noise and bandwidth exceeding 200 kHz. A distinctive meter, inspired by the styling of fine Swiss watches and bearing D’Agostino’s signature, allows monitoring of power output.

Each Momentum monoblock amplifier is hand-built and individually tested in D’Agostino’s Connecticut factory. Rugged throughhole construction allows the use of higher-quality components, thus assuring superior performance for years to come.

Only the Momentum preamplifier can deliver the sound quality necessary to get the maximum possible performance from the Momentum monoblock and stereo amps.

Like the Momentum amplifiers, the preamplifier uses complementary balanced circuit topology for maximum bandwidth and low noise. Its audio circuitry is fully discrete, with no op amps. Zero-feedback design assures the most musical sound quality. Volume adjustment is made through a resistor ladder governed by an optical controller—the cleanest, most transparent possible method of controlling volume.

A 300 VA power supply in a separate chassis isolates the preamp’s sensitive circuitry from electromagnetic interference and noise. Separate supplies power audio and control circuitry, so the control circuits are completely isolated from the audio circuits.

The styling of the Momentum preamp perfectly complements the Momentum amplifiers, with copper accents to match the amplifiers’ unique copper heat sinks. The meter on the front face of the preamp indicates the volume setting, and a ring around the meter controls the volume. The front selector buttons illuminate to show which input is active. A radio-frequency (RF) remote control that works through walls is included.

Just like the Momentum amplifiers, the preamp uses through-hole construction and is hand-built and individually tested in D’Agostino’s Connecticut facility.

The Momentum stereo amplifier delivers the extraordinary sound quality of the Momentum monoblock in a more affordable stereo design. The circuit topology and construction of the stereo amplifier mirror those of the monoblock, using the same ultra-efficient copper heat sinks with venturi cooling, the same 1% metal-film resistors, the same 69 MHz output transistors and the same fully complementary balanced configuration. The result is audio fidelity equaled by no other amplifier—except, of course, the Momentum monoblock itself—and an efficient design that consumes less than 1 watt of power at standby.

The distinctive power meter from the monoblock makes an encore appearance in the stereo amplifier, with a separate indicator needle for each channel. Like the monoblock, the stereo amplifier uses through-hole construction and is hand-built and individually tested in D’Agostino’s Connecticut facility.

Owners of the stereo amplifier who wish to upgrade to dual monoblocks can do so easily and affordably, because the stereo amp can be refitted by D’Agostino for mono operation. The resulting amplifier will be identical to a factory-fresh monoblock amplifier.

No name is more closely associated with high-end audio amplifiers than that of Dan D’Agostino. During his career of more than 30 years, D’Agostino pioneered countless advances in the design of amplifiers, preamplifiers, CD players, and surround-sound processors. He is known as the audio industry’s most passionate promoter of highquality, high-powered amplification. Makers of the world’s finest loudspeakers rely on D’Agostino-designed amplifiers for their most important demonstrations.

Dan D’Agostino was founder and chief engineer of Krell Industries through 2009. Now, he embarks on a completely fresh start with a new organization and new state-of-the-art designs. The products that bear his name not only achieve new levels of sound quality, they also look like nothing he has built before—more compact, more distinctive, and more living-room-friendly.

The new Dan D’Agostino products also reflect his concern for the environment—an attitude uncommon in an industry where some amplifiers consume hundreds of watts even when they’re not in use. Through innovative power-supply design, Dan D’Agostino products consume only the slightest trickle of power at idle, so they run cooler and save energy.

The greatest testimony to the quality of D’Agostino’s new project, though, is that his name—in fact, his very signature—graces the front of each and every Dan D’Agostino product. Everything he has learned in decades of design and engineering the finest audio equipment has gone into the Momentum.

As impressive as these designs may sound on paper, the only way you can truly appreciate their warmth, detail and unmatched beauty is to hear them at your nearest Dan D’Agostino Master Audio Systems dealer.
